This campus at 101 East Hackberry originally housed all freshmen students in McAllen and was named Brown Junior High School in honor of Dorothea Brown, a retired McAllen educator. It opened its doors in November 1975 and was under the direction of principal Ramiro Zapata.
BECOMING THE 2ND HIGH SCHOOL
Memorial High School opened its doors in August of 1980 with an enrollment of approximately 1,500 students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. In 1981 the school operated with all four high school grades, graduating 435 students on May 23, 1982.

Mr. Pedro Alvarez, Jr. leads our school and administrative team as the principal. There are five assistant principals, Dr. R. Benavidez, Mrs. R. Bechtold, Mr. R. Castillo, Mrs. M. Salinas and Mrs. L. Lara. Mrs. Y. Caldwell serves as the dean of instruction.
